Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel took to twitter to praise his son Kasper Schmeichel and Denmark national team despite their loss to Croatia in the round of 16.
“Lost for words. Can’t be more proud of my country, my son, his teammates, all the staff and our fantastic national coach Åge Hareide. When all the tears have dried out we will realise how well we did.” Peter tweeted a few hours back.
Peter was present in the stadium during the match and was seen several times cheering for the team and his son.

Kasper was brilliant throughout the match as he saved Luka Modric’s penalty in the 116th minute and went on to save two more penalties during the shootout. Although Denmark lost the match, Kasper’s performance was praised by everyone including his own father.
Kasper looked visually distraught after the game as it was heartbreak for him and all his Danish team-mates.
Croatia will now take on Russia in the quarter-final on July 7th.
