World Biodiversity Day | Some rare shots from the wild SNS 7 years ago It’s World Biodiversity Day today. Since 2001, when the United Nations adopted a convention on biological diversity, the international day for biological diversity has been celebrated world over on 22 May every year to promote issues related to biodiversity. As part of the celebrations, the UN chooses a different theme every year. This year’s theme is “Celebrating 25 years of Action for Biodiversity”. Bio is life, and diversity signifies a range of different things. Combined, they lead to a diversity of life, says wildlife photographer and blogger Vinod Goel. He has shared a few of his photographs with TheStatesman.com that show the diversity of species, ecosystems and landscapes.
