Sporting Clube de Goa will look to collect full points when they lock horns with Aizawl FC in the Hero I-League match at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda here on Wenesday.
Sporting Clube de Goa has not won in their last five matches that they have played, which has placed themselves into the relegation zone. They are on fourth with 14 points from 12 matches. While Aizawl FC, who are two points behind them, are placed 8th from 13 matches.
Sporting coach Maetus Costa is not happy with the position that they are placed.
"We have performed well in most of the matches but lack of finishing resulted in drop points and have placed ourselves in a tight spot. Now that we have four matches remaining and we need to win them," he said.
"During the break we have worked in our mistakes and the boys are now ready to move on and win matches. Our first priority is to win on Wednesday against Aizawl who is another team fighting to avoid relegation. Now that we have done our home work, the boys are ready to take on Aizawl and hopefully collect full points," said Costa.
Sporting suffered a set back as their star striker Odafe Okalie has picked up injury and is unlikely to play on Wednesday.
They have recruited Charles who is most likely to start Wednesday in his absence.
Aizawl coach Johar Das is optimistic that his team can come out of relegation.
"We have beaten Mohun Bagan, the top team in fray for the title and there is no doubt we can beat any team in this tournament. The last time we met Sporting at home and we lost 2-3 even after dominating the match.
"But with Sporting not doing well in their home ground and with Odafe unlikely to play on Wednesday, we have good chance to win on Wednesday. Another factor which is going to go against us is the humidity as we will be playing in the afternoon under the hot sun which we are not used to as back home it is cool.
"But our boys are ready to give their best and overcome it and hopefully win on Wednesday which will help us to avoid relegation," stated Johar.
