Holi is a vibrant festival celebrated with colours. People smear each other with colours and throw coloured water on one another that creates a festive atmosphere.

The colours used during Holi are made from natural ingredients such as flowers, herbs, and vegetables. However, in recent times, synthetic and chemical-based colours have become popular, which can cause skin irritation and other health issues.

The harsh chemicals and dyes used in making the colours can damage the skin, especially if it’s sensitive. Here are tips to protect your skin from such harmful colours during Holi:

  1. Apply coconut oil or olive oil to your skin before going out to play Holi. This will create a barrier between your skin and the colours, making it easier to wash off later.
  2. Use natural and organic colours made from flowers, fruits, or herbs. These colours are less likely to irritate your skin or cause allergies.
  3. Wear full-sleeved clothes to cover as much skin as possible. This will protect your skin from direct exposure to the colours.
  4. Apply quality sunscreen lotion with a minimum SPF of 30 before stepping out in the sun. This will protect your skin from UV rays and prevent sunburn.
  5. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of water before and during the Holi celebrations. This will keep your skin hydrated and prevent it from getting dry.
  6. After playing Holi, use a mild soap or face wash to clean your skin. Avoid using hot water, as it can strip your skin of its natural oils and make it dry.
  7. Apply a moisturiser or aloe vera gel to your skin after washing off the colors. This will soothe your skin and help it to recover from any damage caused by the colours.

By following these tips, you can enjoy the vibrant colours of Holi without worrying about your skin. Have a happy and safe Holi!
