The festive season is upon us and it brings along with it the urge to look best throughout this celebratory season. Hence, it’s a high time to start with a skin and body care regime to ensure that festive glow. Below are some tips and suggestions to ensure that both, you and your skin, truly rejoice in the upcoming festivities.
Eating right with fresh fruits and vegetables
A good step towards healthy and well-nourished skin is to eat a healthy and balanced diet comprising of fresh fruit, vegetables and lots of greens to ensure a complete supply of essential vitamins and minerals. It is important to remember that whatever we eat shows on our face and body. Hence, eating right is the first step towards achieving healthy and glowing skin.
Power of H2O
Another essential thing is to stay hydrated. Drink a minimum of 6-8 glasses of water every day. This will flush out all toxins from the body and also ensure soft, supple and well-hydrated skin.
A daily ritual of C-T-M
It is also a good idea to start and maintain a twice-daily Cleansing – Toning – Moisturising (CTM) schedule. This will go a long way in ensuring that your skin is clean and well-nourished. Always apply a sunscreen 15-20 minutes before stepping out in the sun. Visit your salon regularly to get a professional level face clean-up/facial treatment done once a month. Ask your beauty therapist to recommend products to use at home for your CTM ritual. Also, invest in face oil, rich in Vitamin E and massage it on your face before bedtime once a week to ensure replenishment of any lost hydration in the week.
Remember what grandmother said?
One more key step is to incorporate a head to toe moisturising ritual as part of your daily skincare regime. This is important to maintain healthy, soft and supple skin all over. Regular hot oil massages followed by a nourishing and moisturising hair mask will help in keeping hair strong and lustrous. Apply cuticle oil to your nails every night and follow it up with enriching hand cream. In case of extremely chapped lips, scrub your lips gently with a lip scrub and follow it up with a generous dose of petroleum jelly before bedtime. This removes dead skin and provides nourishment to the lips. Always remove your make up entirely before going to bed. Make sure no make-up product is left on the skin as this often causes break-outs.
Lastly, there is no substitute for the glow on your skin that is achieved by regular exercise. A regular workout – power yoga, walking, gym and aerobics ensure increased blood circulation to your skin and scalp ensuring that perfect glow for your skin. The healthiest way to detox your mind and body is by sweating it out. It not only energises you but also keeps you looking fit which goes a long way in achieving that radiant glow during the festive season.
