There is something about baking a cake. From measuring the quantity of ingredients, or mixing the flour or sugar, or the smell of the food baking in the oven, everything has a festive flavour to it. And when it’s Christmas time, baking a cake is pure ritual.
Ahead of the festive winter, Radisson Noida organised a traditional cake mixing ceremony, an annual affair for the five-star hotel.
Executive Chef Sujeet Singh unveiled quintessence of the ceremony considered a family tradition. Baking a plum cake or rum cake for Christmas is an elaborate process that begins months in advance.
“The dry fruits and nuts are soaked with a blend of Indian and imported spirits such like rum, whiskey and vodka. The more the ingredients get soaked, the better they taste. The mixture will be stored for the fruits to soak the alcohol completely before we open it on December 20 to prepare the exquisite Christmas cakes, which will be available at our coffee shop during the festive season,” said Chef Singh.
The table was all decked up with a gigantic Christmas tree made of almonds, cashews, tutti-frutties, dark currant, orange strip, ginger powder and cinnamon that were mixed with vodka, rum, and whiskey.
All ingredients were poured together and the guests (with Radisson chefs) mixed all the ingredients in the signature Yuletide style, making it a fun-filled experience.
Cake mixing ceremony is an annual event hosted by Radisson Noida Sector 55 to usher in the festive winter season.
