That women belong to the kitchen is passé for some time now. In present times, women power has been unleashed in ways extraordinary. Now, we have women achievers from various strata who have made a name for themselves.
This Women’s Day, we celebrate five women who broke the glass ceiling in their respective fields.
1. Neha Bagaria, Founder & CEO, JobsForHer: Neha Bagaria is an entrepreneur, a Wharton graduate, a wife, a mother-of-two and a woman who restarted her career by launching the website JobsForHer. Neha founded JobsForHer to reverse female brain drain from within the Indian workforce. JobsForHer.com is an online portal that helps women to restart their career. Neha took a break in her own career when she had children. During this journey, she became aware of the various difficulties a woman faces in order to re-enter the workforce. She then became committed to the cause of enabling women to restart their careers and founded JobsForHer.com on International Women’s Day, 2015.
2. Ankita Jain, Co-founder & Chief Marketing Officer – GoPaisa.com: Ankita Jain is the Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of GoPaisa, a platform offering cash back and discount coupons for online shopping consumers. Ankita started when she was 23. She was thinking about the ways to make shopping a money saving experience. That is how her first business venture, GoPaisa.com came into being.
3. Gauri Singhal, Founder & CEO of FLOH Tampons, a brand by Visionaari LPP. Gauri Singhal started working at the age of 25. Fresh out of college with a Master’s degree from London Business School, UK, Gauri built a consumer brand and a family venture Sharp Foods in the staples category in a span of 3 years. She launched FLOH Tampons in May 2018.
4. Dr Gowri Kulkarni, Head of Medical Operations at DocsApp Medical App: As the Medical Operations head at DocsApp, she is involved with doctor and nurse recruitment, quality assurance, training of support staff and online consultations. She also works closely with the tech team to create triage system for implementation at the grass root level to provide affordable, accessible and high-quality health care. Dr Gowri Kulkarni is a specialist in Family Medicine and Adult Psychiatric disorders, giving primary care and diagnosing psychiatric issues early on to provide holistic care.
5. Pooja Kadambi, Lead Systems Designer & Project Manager at InnAccel: Pooja Kadambi is working with doctors to develop devices that help newborn babies combat respiratory problems and ensuring that patients breathe easy on a ventilator. Pooja was a co-inventor for her first patent at the age of 19 and had her first peer-reviewed publication at 20. Since then, she has been a part of 8 other IP filings and numerous publications.
