Educate yourself and commit to finding happiness with enough hard work and dedication. It is a general human tendency to feel ecstatic when something good happens and depressed when things go wrong. In such a case, life becomes a roller coaster, sometimes up and sometimes down. This happens because most people have no control over their emotional well-being. Doesn’t it sound great if you could be happy all the time irrespective of whatsoever happens around you? Yes, of course! You can stay calm in tough situations too. You can also stop feeling lonely if there is no one to talk to on a low day. All you have to take charge of your emotional state. Being in command of your life can help you stay cool and calm.

To achieve this strength of heart and mind, follow a few tips and you will be well on your way of staying happy.

Meditate: Meditation is one of the most effective ways to achieve positivity of mind, calmness, and happiness. The natural therapy can reduce stress hormones in our body and have a positive impact on our heart, mind, and body. It takes time to learn how to meditate but it’s worth it.

Exercise regularly: Exercise or any kind of physical activity like walk, aerobics, etc. helps release endorphins in your body. Endorphins induce pleasure chemicals that can create euphoria. It can reduce stress and anxiety and make your body healthier and mind more positive.

Do some good deeds: Act of kindness improves mental health. People who perform acts of kindness feel much happier and positive in life than people who do not do this. Spend your money on meaningful causes. The positive boost of emotions you get from spending your money on social activities is quite lasting than if you spend it on materialistic things which can only give you a temporary boost.

Look forward to doing something you have passion for: The expectation of doing something you passionately look forward to doing can be as satisfying as the actual event. It helps in relaxing happy hormones in your brain which gives positivity. For example, if you have a passion for watching movies, thinking about when you are going to do this will raise your endorphin levels and you feel motivated.

Exploit your expertise: We all have some expertise in some or the other field, like some people are expert in some kind of sport or cooking or painting and so on. Every time you perform something you are best at or even good, helps your brain release endorphins. It gives a boost of happiness and positivity. If you get yourself involved in these things, you will get a lasting feeling of joy and energy. You will feel motivated to feel positive in all situations. The less the stress, the more likely you will experience a positive benefit.

Go on vacations: Anticipating a trip can make you happy and a positive well-planned vacation can make you happier. You can return with more energy and meaning in your life. See the world and have fun. However, not all vacations are equal. Poorly planned and stressful vacations eliminate the positive benefit of time away from work. So create a positive vacation the right way so that you can return recharged, less stressed, happier and more positive.

Life is full of ups and downs. You can always find reasons to be miserable in your good times as well. Stop chasing vague ideas of happiness and start living life happily with whatever you have today. Assume your own responsibility for your life. Nobody else can help. Stop blaming people for your sufferings. Instead, focus on what you can do to make things better for you. Accept life in its entirety. Stop thinking about what should be and accept what it is. Expect nothing from others. When you expect nothing from others, you will never face disappointment. Rather you can get a pleasant surprise if something good happens.

Stay happy, stay healthy!
