Diwali, the festival of lights is around the corner. The five-day festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Diwali is followed by some traditions and rituals.

Different communities celebrate it in a different style. Indians light up every place with shimmering lights, diyas, candles, lanterns and of course the bright colourful rangoli patterns made of flower petals, rice, turmeric, wheat flour, or sand.

Diwali too brings a lot of responsibility from cleaning to decorating our homes, offices, shops. When on one hand, people tend to be busy in Diwali shopping, on the other; they put their thinking caps and rake their brains for new decor ideas.

One can use empty glass bottles including glass jars of jams, health drinks of different shapes and sizes. Fill the bottles with the fairy lights and light it up. To add an extra charm to the bottle, one can even add confetti inside the jar. Decorating the bottle with shells or beads will also make it look beautiful.

Lanterns or paper lampshades are a novel oriental way of decorating the house on Diwali. One can create a unique decorative element for Diwali by painting and cutting them in different shapes and sizes.

One can go for theme-based decoration. For instance, Lakshmi Ganesha theme will work perfectly on Diwali.
