Ingredients:
Ready made canapes:15
Puffed rice: ½ cup
Cornflakes: ½ cup
Peanuts: 1 handful (roasted)
Sev namkeen:1/3 cup
Papri: 5
Curry leaves: 6-7
Mustard seeds:1 tsp
Salt: to taste
Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
Chat masala: 2 tsp
Mint chutney: 1 tbsp
Tamarind chutney: 2 tbsp
Lemon juice: 1 tbsp
Oil: 1 tbsp
Onion: 3 tbsp (finely chopped)
Tomato: 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Green chilies: 1 (finely chopped)
Fresh coriander leaves: 3 tbsp (finely chopped)
Method
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When they start to crackle, add curry leaves. Add puffed rice, coarsely crushed cornflakes, peanuts and papri (broken in small pieces).Add salt, red chilli powder and chat masala. Mix well on low flame stirring for five minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool. Add finely chopped onion, tomato, green chillies and fresh coriander leaves.Add mint chutney, lemon juice and tamarind chutney. Mix well. And fill in the canapes immediately.Garnish with sev namkeen sprinkling it generously on top.Serve immediately.The main culprit that contributes to the calories is the sev that is generously sprinkled for crispiness and garnishing. If you are one of the fitness-minded people, skip the sev completely and make bhel with just puffed rice, cornflakes, peanuts and few papris. You can have this snack every day with your evening tea.
