World University of Design launches Adobe Digital Technology Academy on campus

The World University of Design (WUD), Sonipat (Haryana) has entered into a strategic tie-up with Adobe to launch Adobe Digital Technology Academy on its campus. The academy will impart new age digital creativity skills to students to enhance their employability prospects as per the demands of the industry.

The university said the Adobe Digital Technology Academy would also nurture digital creativity skills of the students across WUD schools, in sync with India’s Skill India and Digital India mission. The programme is designed by Adobe in consultation with industry leaders with focus on practical training leading to jobs or entrepreneurship. “It is to enhance employability with new age skills like AI, Design Thinking, Machine learning and Big Data. More than 500 students will stand to benefit from the academy every year,” said a statement issued by the university.

“I am grateful to Adobe for giving WUD this unique opportunity. This is in line with our vision of collaborating with the best in the world for providing unique learning and research capabilities to benefit not just our students and faculty but also the industry. I feel industry exposure is a quintessential part of design education and intends to provide abundant opportunities to all its students, across streams, to explore and experience the various nuances of this facet of education,” said Dr Sanjay Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, WUD.

He added: “With industry automation, industry leaders are driving large scale technological innovations globally using digital technology, thereby creating a need for students to get trained in Digital Skills. With the establishment of the Adobe Digital Technology Academy, WUD endeavours to build a generation of digitally proficient creative professional designers ready to meet the emerging demands of the industry.”

The highlights of the program include:

Integration of digital tools into the curriculum of its various schools

Practical hands on training on digital tools (Creative cloud)

Development of Faculty expertise on emerging new digital platforms

Guest lectures for students by industry digital experts

Access to Adobe’s repository for content and global connect

According to a recent Creative Pulse survey conducted by Adobe, creative professionals in India are today driving a bigger impact within their organisations. In a statement, Adobe India said it was happy to partner with the World University of Design to establish Adobe Digital Technology Academy.

Recently, WUD has announced partnership with six international universities across UK, Canada and France, including Universities of Huddersfield, Oxford Brookes and, West of Scotland in UK, Emily Carr University of Art & Design and Vancouver Film School in Canada and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles (ENSAIT) in France.
