Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he “will not sleep” over the 30 place jump in the ‘ease of doing business’ ranking and expressed confidence that India’s position will improve further in 2018.

Addressing the ‘India’s Business Reforms’ at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in the national capital, Modi lauded the World Bank for recognising India’s work.

“In a short span of three years, India has jumped up 42 spots in the Doing Biz ranking, I sense a well deserved mood of celebration here, World Bank has recognized stupendous work done by us,” Modi said.

“However, I don’t want to sleep over 30 place jump in ease of doing business ranking and want to do more,” he added.

Highlighting that India had reached a position from where it was easier to improve further, Modi said the government’s efforts have gathered momentum.

“The improved ranking is an indicator of good governance, a benchmark for quality and transparency. India will improve its place in the world bank report next year and the year thereafter,” he said.

“As you know, I have nothing else to do. I have one life one mission – transforming the nation and it’s people’s lives,” he added.
