A woman body, aged around 25 years, was recovered in a decomposed condition from a suitcase, kept isolated near a drain located in the Punjabi Bagh area on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased woman has not been identified yet. A murder case has been registered and an investigation has been taken up. The Police are making efforts to identify the deceased and trace the accused involved in the crime.
A senior police official said, the body, locked in a suitcase, was found near the drain situated along the Ring Road. Some passersby informed the Police, when they saw the suitcase suspiciously kept near the drain.
On receiving the information through PCR call at about 12.36 pm on Wednesday, the Police reached the spot, where the suitcase was found lying in the drain near the Mahatma Gandhi Camp in Punjabi Bagh.
During the preliminary examination, it was feared that the woman was killed around 8 to 10 days back. The body has been shifted to the mortuary of Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
The Police are scanning the CCTV footage around the spot to ascertain the identity of the accused involved in the crime.
