A saffron-clad man climbed atop a tower in Mumbai with an unusual wish to see cousins Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray reuniting for the development of Maharashtra state.
As per Times of India news report, the incident occurred on Sunday at Dadar TT flyover after a man from Yavatmal, who was identified as Shaam Maruti Gaikwad, climbed atop a repair deck of the flyover with his demand.
High drama ensued at the flyover after motorist noticed him on top of the 50-metre repair deck, mouthing his incomprehensible demands.
The police used public address system to urge him to come down from the deck but he refused to acknowledge their pleas. Authorities had to stop and divert traffic to avoid any untoward incident.
Gaikwad, while dangerously walking on top of the deck, threw leaflets down on the road, which revealed his name, contact information and reasons why he climbed the deck.
In his leaflets, Gaikwad, a Shiv Sainik, said that he wanted Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS Chief Raj Thackeray to join hands for the progress of the state.
The fire brigade called on his contact number and spoke to him, while urging him to convince him to climb down from the tower, however, he refused. After over two hours, with a joint effort of police and fire brigade, who used a 42-metre ladder, the teams brought him down.
However, after his climbing gimmick, Gaikwad has now threatened to go on a hunger strike till his demands are not met.
