A young Filipino amputee, who was among the lucky ones to get a Jaipur foot with the help of India, told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he dreamt of becoming a cop one day.
Modi interacted with nine-year old Carlo Migel Silvano from Bulacan province at Mahaveer Philippine Foundation in Manila, a long running humanitarian cooperation programme between India and the Philippines.
“I want to be a policeman” my young friend told me…glad to see the Jaipur Foot giving wings to the aspirations of many youngsters like him,” Modi tweeted along with some photos of the boy.
“Wonderful visit to the Mahaveer Philippine Foundation. Their efforts of fitting the Jaipur Foot on needy amputees have touched several lives. During my visit, saw a series of exhibits and interacted with amputees,” he said in another tweet.
The foundation was set up by the highly regarded Indian–origin Mayor of Manila Dr. Ramon Bagatsing and has been instrumental in the fitment of the Jaipur Foot to needy amputees.
About 757 amputees benefitted from the programme in 2017.
PM Modi arrived in Manila on Sunday for the 15th India-Asean Summit, the 12th East Asia Summit and his bilateral meeting with President Rodrigo Dutertethe.
