Vigilance Team raids Mandoli Jail, 8 mobile phones, eight knives recovered

In a late night raid, the Vigilance Team raided Mandoli Jail in the National Capital and at least eight mobile phones and eight knives were recovered. Some of the items were also recovered from the members of Gogi Gang lodged in the jail.

According to a source, the senior jail officials have ordered action against two Deputy Superintendents and three Head Wardens posted in the Jail and further probe has been initiated.

A senior jail official said that information was received about the phone calls being made from the jail. It was also often alleged that desperate gangsters lodged in different jails of Delhi are extorting money from big businessmen and other well known persons by threatening them and calling them from jails.

On the information, a special Vigilance Team of the Tamil Nadu Special Police and security personnel was formed and was tasked to conduct raids in jails. Action was being taken from the past couple of days by the team.

The dedicated team of Vigilance raided Mandoli Jail in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday and recovered eight mobiles along with the same number of handmade knives from the possessions of inmates.

According to the jail source, the action was taken in Mandoli Jail Number-12 and 13. Out of the    eight mobile phones recovered from the jail, three were smart-phones, and the other five were small keypad phones.

Further, investigation is being carried out to ascertain the call details of the phone recovered from the jail.
