Uttarakhand conducts electric bus trial run from Dehradun to Mussoorie

Uttarakhand is keen on promoting the use of electric vehicles in the hill state.

Taking up this enterprise further, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off the test run of the state’s first electric bus in Dehradun on Tuesday. Notably, Electric Vehicle Policy has been framed by the Uttarakhand Government to encourage the operation of pollution-free vehicles in the state. The trial run of the bus was conducted from Dehradun to Mussoorie on Tuesday.

At the recent Investors Summit, an MoU of Rs 700 crore was signed for the operation of electric buses in Uttarakhand. In this sequence, a bus has been provided for testing by Olectra Greentech Ltd, Hyderabad, which will have a test run on Dehradun-Mussoorie and Haldwani-Nainital routes for one month.

Uttarakhand Transport Corporation will operate 25 buses on Dehradun-Mussoorie and 26 buses on the Haldwani-Nainital route on basis of GGC Model. Olectra Greentech Ltd is interested to run 500 electric buses in the state. This 30-seater low floor bus is equipped with CCTV, GPS, Panic Button, and Air Suspension. There is no sound or vibration while operating this electric bus.
