Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday extended his wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Vijayadashami.

“The festival of Vijayadashami symbolises the victory of good over evil and truth over untruth. Today, the need is that we should be free from ego in our lives, walk on the path of truth, and work together for the social harmony of the state and the country,” an official release quoted the Uttarakhand CM as saying.
The chief minister said Maryada Purushottam Lord Ram was dedicated to truth, dignity, justice, peace, charity and public welfare.

“His life inspires us to follow the right path and live an ideal life. Vijayadashami is also a festival of Shakti worship,” the CM added.
Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, is a prominent Hindu festival celebrated every year at the end of Navaratri.

It is observed on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin, the seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar. The festival typically falls in the Gregorian calendar months of September and October.
The festival also starts the preparations for Diwali, the important festival of lights, which is celebrated twenty days after Vijayadashami.
