UP gets 16 times more budget for railways than during 2009-14

In the Union Budget, Uttar Pradesh has got 16 times more allocation in the railway budget than it got during 2009-14. Between 2009 and 14, while UP’s share in the rail budget was only Rs 1,109 crore, the Modi Government has given the state a budgetary allocation of Rs 17,507 crore in 2022-23 alone.

This time, the Central government has announced the highest budget of Rs 2.4 lakh crore for the railways. According to the Railway Ministry, this budget is nine times more than the budget of 2013-14.

The Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh is working fast in the direction of infrastructure and connectivity. At present, work is going on in the state on a 7,143 km long new line under 83 projects, on which about 94 thousand crores are being spent whereas on 3,831 km 55 surveys are to be done for a long railway line.

At the same time, among of the projects related to the new line to connect Uttar Pradesh with other states are: Lalitpur-Satna, Rewa-Singrauli, and Mahoba-Khajuraho, on which Rs 700 crore will be spent.

Similarly, Rs 390 crore will be spent on Bahraich-Shrawasti and Balrampur-Tulsipur lines, Rs 284 crore for a new line for energy corridor in 2023-24, Rs 284 crore for Tribal Gaurav Corridor (Umbrella 23-24), Rs 205 crore for Sahjanwa-Dohrighat, Rs 200 crores for Deoband (Muzaffarnagar)-Roorkee, Mau-Ghazipur Rs 150 crores for Tarighat, Rs 20 crore for Umbrella Project, Rs 20 crore for Anandnagar-Ghugli, Rs 10 crore for Padrauna-Kushinagar via Gorakhpur and Rs 30 lakh for Meerut-Panipat is to be spent.

A lot of work is also being done in the state towards gauge conversion. Through this, small lines have been converted into big lines. Rs 100 crore will be spent on the line between Mathura-Vrindavan, Rs 100 crore on Lucknow-Pilibhit via Sitapur, Rs 100 crore on Lakhimpur, Rs 50 crores on Bahraich-Mailani bypass, Indara-Dohrighat, Rs 35 crore, Pilibhit-Shahjahanpur, Rs 3 crore and on the line of Kanpur-Kasganj-Mathura Rs 50 lakh will be spent.
