A woman taekwondo athlete has accused her mother of trying to force her into flesh trade. She has also alleged a rape attempt by her brother. In her complaint to police, the UP athlete said she was able to foil both attempts.
The police arrested the accused mother, the brother and another person, who is said to be a journalist, on Friday night and sent the girl to a shelter home.
SSP Nitin Tiwari said action was taken on the complaint of the girl. He said the police had recorded her statement and were investigating the allegations.
The girl would be produced in court on Monday where her statement would be recorded under Section 164 of the CrPc, said the SSP.
The complainant girl is a taekwondo athlete who is studying in college. A few days ago, she met Juhi Tyagi, president of social organisation ‘Saarthi’, and told her that her mother was running a flesh trade racket from the house along with a “journalist”. She also produced a video that showed her mother and another man in a compromising position. She told Juhi that her mother was trying to force her too into flesh trade but she had been able to resist her till now.
The girl also said her brother tried to rape her in September 2018. Though the matter had been reported to the police then, it was “settled” after a panchayat’s intervention.
The girl lives in the house with her mother and the brother. Her father had parted ways from the family after he was booked in a rape case.
The girl had some time ago approached Sarathi seeking their help to expose her mother who was trying to push her into flesh trade. On Friday, she went to them again with the evidence, after which they approached the police and the arrests were made.
The mother said she was forced to do it on the direction of her taekwando coach because their financial condition didn’t allow to fund her training.
Circle officer of Kotwali area Dinesh Shukla said they were in the process of verifying her allegations through records, even as an investigation into the case was on.
