In his second rally on Tuesday in poll-bound Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) government led by Chief Minister K Chandrababu Naidu. He also said that there is no difference between the TRS and the Congress.

“TRS is a xerox copy of the Congress. There is no difference between both the parties. Both the parties back dynastic politics, casteism, and vote-bank politics,” he said before a massive gathering in Mehbubnagar.

Urging the gathering to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming polls, Modi also accused the Congress and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu over the lack of development in Telangana.

“The TRS government ruined Telangana. The reason is simple – their apprenticeship under the Chandrababu Naidu government, when the state was a part of Andhra Pradesh and the UPA government,” he said.

Hitting out at the grand old party, the PM said that the Congress’ division of Andhra Pradesh has resulted in both states suffering till date.

“Look how Congress divided Andhra Pradesh. Both the states are suffering till date. When Atal Ji divided Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, six states were formed and all of them are rapidly progressing,” he said amid ‘Modi-Modi’ slogans.

Modi also said that the TRS government has failed in fulfilling its promises to the people.

“The CM in Telangana had promised to give homes to poor. But what happened to that promise? Where are the houses? Were his promises false or not,” he said.

“Congress’ seventy years of misrule at Centre and TRS’ five years of mis-governance in the state are responsible for the distress farmers are facing,” he added.

Earlier today, the PM in his maiden address in Nizamabad had taken a jibe at Rao saying that the CM believes that he can win elections without doing anything just like the Congress did for 50 years.

“The Congress has not done any development in the country, yet they kept winning elections. So the CM believes that if Congress can win like this, he too can (by not doing anything),” Modi told a huge gathering of BJP supporters.

Modi also blamed Rao for Telangana failing to benefit from the Ayushmaan Bharat campaign.

Elections in Telangana will be held on 7 December. The BJP, which is not a major power in Telangana, is up against the ruling TRS and the ‘Maha Kootami’ (Grand Alliance) formed by the Congress, Telangana Jana Samiti, Telugu Desam Party and the Communist Party of India.
