Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb believes that the youth in Tripura should take up the fitness challenge of Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore because that would help the state develop a “56-inch chest”.
Speaking at a ceremony organised to felicitate sportspersons, the Tripura CM said, “All the youths should stay fit. If all youths do push-ups, they will become healthy and Tripura will become healthy too.”
“Automatically, Tripura will develop 56-inch chest and follow the direction of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ for development,” added Deb.
During his campaign before the 2014 Lok Sabha election, PM Modi had reportedly lashed out at the incompetence of his opponents and claimed that he had a 56-inch chest – an allusion to his capability of leading a nation.
“Development doesn’t mean only industries. It also means developing sports. One has to be an all-rounder (to perform well),” the Chief Minister said.
Deb said he himself had accepted Rathore’s fitness challenge. On 31 May, Deb had posted a video in which he is seen doing push-ups.
“I accept #FitnessChallenge given by Shri @Ra_THORe ji. This is how I remain fit & healthy for building a #NewIndia. I ask my friends from #Tripura spread across the world to accept this challenge & show how they are fulfilling Shri @narendramodi ji’s vision of #HumFitTohIndiaFit,” he wrote while sharing the video.
