Meghna Srivastava, the girl who topped the CBSE 2018 Class 12th board examinations, has no “secret” to success. The bright young student of Step by Step School in Noida scored 99.8 per cent marks in the examinations.

Securing 499 out of 500 marks, Meghna, a student of Humanities, amazed everyone. She scored 100 out of 100 marks in every subject except English, in which she got 99.

When asked what was the secret to her success, she said there’s none.

“There is no secret. You just have to work hard and be consistent throughout the year,” said the bespectacled topper.

“Just be positive and work hard,” added Meghna, as per ANI.

She also credited her parents and teachers for their support.

“My teachers and parents have been really helpful. They never pressurised me,” she said, adding that she never counted the number of hours when studying.

Anoushka Chandra of SAJ School, Ghaziabad, stood second with a score of 498 out of 500. Seven students – five girls and two boys – finished joint third with 497 marks each.

The top three regions are Trivandrum with 97.32 per cent, Chennai with 93.87 per cent and Delhi with 89 per cent.

The Class 12th results of the Central Board of Secondary Education 2018, or CBSE 12th results 2018, were announced on Saturday at 12.30 pm.

Education Secretary Anil Swarup had confirmed on Friday that the CBSE Class 12th results 2018 would be announced on 26 May.

Once again, girls did better than boys in the examinations conducted by the Board across the country.

While the pass percentage of girls was 88.31 per cent, that of the boys was way below at 78.99 per cent — a huge gap of almost 10 per cent.

The overall pass percentage was 83.01.

As per the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE), a total of 16,38,428 and 11,86,306 students had registered for examination this year for Class 10 and Class 12, respectively. The exams were held at 4,138 centres across India and 71 centres outside the country.

The CBSE had held re-examination for Class 12 economics paper throughout the country on 25 April.
