Terrorists shot dead a man belonging to the nomadic Gujjar community after kidnapping two of them on Monday evening in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir. The whereabouts of the other person were not yet known.
This is the first incident of kidnapping and killing after the abrogation of Article 370.
Governor Satya Pal Malik on Tuesday advised security forces of heightened surveillance on all fronts and ensuring safety and security of people in all possible manners.
Reports said that terrorists barged into a temporary shelter of the migrant Gujjars and abducted two of them and later shot dead one of them, police said.
Abdul Qadeer Kohli of Rajouri district and Manzoor Ahmed of Khonmoh area of Srinagar were abducted by terrorists from a forested area of Tral in Pulwama district around 7:30 pm. The bullet-riddled body of Kohli was later recovered by a search and rescue party, while an operation to trace the other person is underway.
Meanwhile, Zulfiqar Hasan, ADG CRPF, J&K, met Governor Malik at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar and briefed him about the prevailing security scenario in J&K and the role being played by the CRPF in internal security management.
While lauding the important role being played by the CRPF in maintaining security in J&K, the Governor advised heightened surveillance on all fronts and ensuring safety and security of people in all possible manners.
