Telangana Governor resigns to contest Lok Sabha polls

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan resigned from her post on Monday to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Dr Soundararajan who also resigned as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, is likely to contest the elections from Chennai Central constituency.

She has sent her resignation letter to the President Draupadi Murmu.

Dr Soundararajan who is the second Governor after formation of the state and the first woman governor, was the president of Tamil Nadu BJP before she replaced her predecessor ESL Narasimhan in Telangana.

Her five-year long tenure was marked by attrition between the Raj Bhavan and the state government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao.

However, after the Congress government took over, the rapport between Raj Bhavan and the state government became amicable.
