TDP will approach Andhra Pradesh High Court alleging electoral malpractices in the elections to the Legislative Council. TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu wrote two letters to the Election Commission outlining several instances where the ruling YSRCP had indulged in irregularities to win the elections. Opposition parties like BJP and Left parties too made similar allegations against the ruling party.

“The chief minister Mr YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reposed faith in the backdoor methods to win the polls and at least 30 per cent of the votes polled for both graduates and teachers constituencies are bogus,” said Varla Ramaiah, TDP politburo member.

TDP complained YV Subba Reddy of TDP was freely roaming and campaigning around in Visakhapatnam although he was an outsider while YSRCP MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and his son were allowed inside polling booths. TDP also released a video of YSRCP minister KC Ushashri Charan discussing with party members about distribution of money among voters.

Another voter who claimed to have studied till class X was found voting in the Graduate MLC election. Elections were held today for eight MLC seats including three graduates, two teachers and three for local authorities constituencies for Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. Counting will be held on 16 March.
