The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin over the arrest of Jaffer Sadiq, an alleged international drugs trafficker and asked him to explain his relationship with the accused.
Sadiq, a former DMK worker, was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Saturday. The BJP alleged that Stalin’s daughter-in-law had directed a film produced by the alleged drug trafficker.
The NCB has accused Sadiq of being linked to Rs 2000 crore drug haul. It is being claimed that he has produced some Tamil and Hindi films.
Reacting to the arrest, BJP leader Tom Vadakkan said Stalin has made the DMK government in Tamil Nadu to “Drugs Marketing Kazhagam”.
“Stalin and company have reduced the DMK government (in Tamil Nadu) into a Drugs Marketing Kazhagam,” he said.
BJP Mahila Morcha chief Vanathi Srinivasan also targeted the Tamil Nadu chief minister and alleged that his daughter-in-law Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi directed a film produced by Jaffer Sadiq.
“Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, daughter-in-law of chief minister M K Stalin has directed a film produced by Jaffer Sadiq. All his social media posts show how close he was with Tamil Nadu sports minister (Udhayanidhi Stalin), son of M K Stalin,” she said.
Meanwhile, an AIADMK delegation led by its chief Edappadi K Palaniswami today met Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, seeking a thorough investigation by authorities into alleged international drug racket kingpin Jaffer Sadiq’s links to the ruling DMK.
Palaniswami alleged that Sadiq “gave money’ to DMK office-bearers and donated to a trust linked to the ruling party in Tamil Nadu.
