Madhya Pradesh Home and Legislative Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra today flung the Assembly rules book towards Leader of Opposition Govind Singh while Congress MLA Sajjan Singh Verma later tore that book amid uproarious scenes inside the House over the no confidence motion brought by the Congress against Assembly Speaker Girish Gautam.
The Speaker adjourned the Assembly for five minutes initially but later extended it to 12 noon. Subsequently, the assembly proceedings in the ongoing budget session were adjourned till 13 March, as the din continued.
In the morning, the Congress submitted its no confidence motion in the Speaker’s office. Congress MLAs demanded inside the house that someone else must take the Speaker’s seat.
Speaker Girish Gautam contended that he had not yet received the Congress motion and would decide about it when he gets it.
Amidst the ongoing commotion, Narottam Mishra threw a copy of the Assembly proceedings rulebook towards Govind Singh.
The senior Congress MLA took strong objection to the minister’s action. The Congress MLAs demanded that Mishra be suspended from the house on account of his misconduct. Govind Singh said the Congress has demanded an adjournment motion against Narottam Mishra.
In the morning, police prohibited media persons from entering the Assembly, except for the one designated spot for electronic media bytes. Several media persons sat on a dharna in protest.
Consequently, Narottam Mishra pacified the media persons and allowed their entry in all the designated areas for the media in the Assembly.
Yvesterday, Speaker Girish Gautam had suspended Congress MLA Jitu Patwari from the Assembly for the entire remaining budget session. In protest, the Congress today brought a no confidence motion against Gautam.
