After Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh, another Trinamul Congress ex-MP Santanu Sen went public with his disappointment today on being denied a ticket by the party for the Rajya Sabha or the Lok Sabha. The former RS member vowed to keep working for the party and reposed faith in the party.
Airing his disappointment today, Dr Sen today said that he was first denied a ticket for the Rajya Sabha, but when that did not happen, he had hoped that he could be in line to get a ticket for Lok Sabha. As a result there is disappointment.
“I’m a dedicated worker of the party. I’m a member of Trinamul Congress because it is Mamata Banerjee, who is a real inspiration to me. It was she who had sent me to Rajya Sabha in 2018. I can say with certainty by showing figures that I worked with sheer determination and commitment during all these years as a RS MP. I did everything that the party had asked me to do and also took part in an aggressive party movement against the BJP. So, naturally there was an expectation of getting a re-nomination in the RS but perhaps due to some reasons best known to the party, I was denied a ticket. Even for LS ticket, I was not considered despite the fact that I had a fair amount of exposure in parliamentary politics,” he said.
“So from that point of view, I was quite disappointed but since I am a dedicated worker of the party since my beginning and Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee are my inspirations, I would continue to work for the party as a disciplined soldier keeping aside all those agony of being missing out,” Mr Sen told newspersons.
