Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’: UP declares state holiday on January 22; half day in AIIMS Delhi

Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday announced state holiday on Monday, January 22, when the mega consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir is scheduled to take place in Ayodhya.

This follows an earlier order in which the state government had declared that all government offices and educational institutes in the state will remain closed on Monday.

Besides, the Yogi Adityanath government has also banned sale of meat and fish across the state on January 22. Also, sale of liquor has been prohibited in UP on the day of Ram Mandir’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’.

A few other states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Union Territory of Delhi have also announced half day off in view of the Ram temple ceremony.

All the government offices and educational institutions in BJP ruled Tripura will remain closed until 2:30 pm.

A similar proclamation was made by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in order to allow government employees witness the event.

In Madhya Pradesh, all the schools will remain closed and the state will observe a dry day on the ocassion of Ram temple consecration.

Haryana, another BJP-ruled state has declared a holiday for schools and sale of liquor will remain prohibited on January 22.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced state holiday for government offices and educational institutions in order to encourage people to celebrate the day like a festival.

AIIMS Delhi announces half day

Meanwhile, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Delhi has announced half day on January 22. The outpatient department of the country’s premier hospital will be closed till 2.30.

However, all critical services, including emergency will remain functional.

According to news agency ANI, the hospital is in the process of rescheduling appointments and if any patients arrive, the hospital will try to accommodate them.
