Jaipur’s Swasthya Kalyan Blood Bank (SKBB), in service for the last 28 years, has become the first blood bank in Rajasthan to get accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Providers (NABH) accreditation for ‘quality services’ to patients required blood units.

The NABH is a subsidiary of the Quality Council of India (a GoI undertaking) which provides quality certificate recognition to institutions working in the health sector. Its certification ensures that the Swasthya Kalyan Blood Bank keeps the best interests of the patient and the donor in mind, Dr. S S Agarwal, SKBB Chairman, said on Friday.

After examining the functioning of the health welfare blood bank, the SKBB has been recognised by the NABH for its quality of the blood, maintenance of different components of blood at proper temperatures, safety of blood donors, necessary tests for various blood diseases, and timely blood supply to patients.

The SKBB opened its first-of-its-kind ‘Blood Donation Camp Complex’ in the state for free use by any organisation, social clubs and NGOs with all infrastructure and medical assistance in the state.

Anyone interested in organising a blood donation camp and looking for a space and other inputs can avail this facility at free of cost as it would extend the best infrastructure, para-medical support under hygienic conditions to organisers, its Director Anand Agarwal claimed.
