Rajasthan School Education department has been conferred with a citation and inclusion in the World Book of Records (London) for using Artificial Intelligence (AI) of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) of 1.35 crore students in class 3 to 8 all schools in the state.
The certificate of this record was presented to Education, Art and Culture Minister Dr B D Kalla by Aditi Tank and Pratham Bhalla, Indian representatives, in presence of Additional Chief Secretary (Education) Pawan Goyal and Director Elementary Education Gaurav Agarwal at a small event at the Minister’s residence here on Tuesday.
“It is the largest application of AI used at the state level mass drive titled Rajasthan Ke Siksha Main Badhate Kadam (RKSMBK) from November 3-7 in 3 to 8 class 1.35 crore students’ OCR sheet”, Dr Kalla claimed while interacting with media persons. Rajasthan is the first in the country to get this recognition for the use of AI in school education, he maintained.
In this bridge course for class 1 to 8, four periods were fixed in the first three months and 2 periods in the remaining entire session, the Minister said.
Director of Elementary Education Gaurav Agarwal (IAS), said, “The RKSMB’s App was launched on September 5, 2022. More than 2.5 lakh teachers are associated with it. In the second phase of the App, the answer sheets of the students were checked and data entry was done by the teacher through a photo. Through this process, the performance data of each student was accurately recorded by Artificial Intelligence. During the period from November 3 to 7, answer sheets of about 50 lakh students of classes 3 to 8 were digitally evaluated. 1 crore 35 lakh answer sheets were digitally corrected in the assessment”.
Under this scheme, skill based workbooks will be prepared for more than 75 lakh students and proficiency assessment will be done 3 times a year, the Director said.
