Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday took a swipe at Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi, alleging that ”Gandhi is mentally unstable”.
Addressing reporters in Assam, CM Sarma stated, “It’s widely known that Rahul Gandhi lacks mental stability and a positive outlook… One can easily create numerous viral videos by observing him daily, indicating his lack of mental balance.”
Sarma’s comments followed the circulation of a video showing Gandhi offering a biscuit to a puppy, which refused to take, prompting Gandhi to pass it to a supporter.
The video, shared by the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, sparked controversy on social media, with the BJP accusing Gandhi of disrespecting his supporters.
Once associated with the Congress, Sarma launched a scathing attack on Gandhi, asserting his independence from the Gandhi family’s influence. “I am proud of my Assamese and Indian identity. I chose not to succumb and resigned from the Congress,” Sarma declared.
