With the arrest of seven accused, including doctors and engineers, Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has succeeded in unearthing a syndicate involved in making spurious medicines used in the treatment of Cancer.
However, the bigger challenge that emerged after the busting of the racket is to stop the consumption of these fake medicines by the cancer patients as huge consignments of such medicines valued in Crores have already reached the markets.
The police team is now trying to ascertain the facts about the supply of these medicines and inquiring as to who else were involved in the sale and purchase of these fake life saving medicines, just to make a good profit.
According to a police official, the syndicate involved in the case was playing with the lives of the people, as the medicines, which they were supplying in the name of cancer treatment medicines are of no use. Apart from the arrest of these seven accused, the police team has busted a manufacturing unit located in Sonipat District of Haryana and a godown located at Tronica City, Ghaziabad, UP.
The accused have been identified as Dr Pabitra Narayan Pardhan (34), a resident of Sector-45, Noida, Shubham Manna (29), a resident of Sector-45, Noida, Pankaj Singh Bohra (27) a resident of Pithoragarh, Uttrakhand, Ankit Sharma (26), a resident of Neb Sarai, New Delhi, Ram Kumar (46), a resident of Sonipat, Aekansh Verma (27), a resident of Chandigarh, and Parbhat Kumar (45), a resident of Ghaziabad, UP.
Twenty international brands of cancer medicines worth over eight Crores recovered from the accused. Besides a huge quantity of loose medicines, packets, packaging material and machinery equipment have also been seized during the raid.
Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav said that there were some vital inputs regarding pan-India involvements of an international gang in manufacturing and supplying of spurious life saving cancer drugs and making profit out of the illness and misery of cancer patients.
A team composed of Inspector Kamal, Inspector Pawan Kumar, Inspector Mahipal Singh and other policemen under the supervision of Inspector Satendra Mohan was constituted by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amit Goel to arrest the accused persons.
The team further developed the afore-said information and it was revealed that the godown of the alleged persons is located at Tronica City, Ghaziabad where on the directions of Dr Pabitra Pradhan and Shubham Manna, their associates Pankaj Bohra and Ankit Sharma used to pack the spurious medicines used in the treatment of cancer patient.
It was further revealed that on the directions of Dr. Pabitra Pradhan, the spurious medicines are being delivered at different locations in Delhi and they used to book the ‘We Fast’ courier for delivery of the medicines across the country.
The team started to track the movement of the accused and one accused namely Pankaj Singh Bohra was apprehended with a huge quantity of fake medicines.
On his disclosure, the police raided their godown located at Ghaziabad.
Further the team apprehended Dr Pabitra Narayan Pardhan, Shubham Manna and Ankit Sharma from Noida.
According to the police, Dr Pabitra Narayan Pardhan is an MBBS from the University of China, Shubham Manna is B.Tech from Bangalore, Pankaj Singh Bohra and Ankit Sharma are ITI diploma holders, Ram Kumar is running a pharmaceutical factory namely RDM Biotech at Gannaur, Haryana, Aekansh Verma has his own pharma firm namely Medyork Pharma in Chandigarh and Parbhat Kumar, an MBA, is the owner of Aditya Pharma at Chandni Chowk, Delhi.
These accused were selling these spurious medicines to the people in India and China. Further investigation is in progress to bust the entire international chain.
