President, Vice President, Prime Minister, others pay tributes to ND Tiwari

As soon as the news of the passing away of veteran Congress leader former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Narayan Dutt Tiwari spread, tributes started pouring in from various quarters.

Among those who expressed their condolences include President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others.

President Ram Nath Kovind said in a tweet, “Sad to hear of the passing of veteran political figure and former Union minister Shri N.D. Tiwari. As chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and later Uttarakhand, he contributed much to development and public welfare. My condolences to his family and associates.”

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu tweeted, “वरिष्ठ नेता श्री नारायण दत्त तिवारी जी के निधन पर शोक व्यक्त करता हूं। अपने लंबे सार्वजनिक जीवन में तिवारी जी  राज्यपाल, मुख्यमंत्री, एवम् केंन्द्रिय मंत्री के रूप में जनसेवा से संबद्ध रहे।“

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his tweet, “Saddened by the passing away of Shri ND Tiwari Ji. A towering leader, he was known for his administrative skills. He will be remembered for his efforts towards industrial growth & working for the progress of UP & Uttarakhand, a state he steered in its initial days. My condolences.”

The official Twitter handle of the Congress said, “Today we mourn the loss of one of our strongest leaders. Our thoughts & prayers are with the family & friends of ND Tiwari.”

BJP president Amit Shah tweeted, ” वरिष्ठ राजनेता श्री नारायण दत्त तिवारी जी के निधन का दु:खद समाचार प्राप्त हुआ। तिवारी जी ने भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में अंग्रेजों के विरुद्ध संघर्ष किया, वह तीन बार उत्तर प्रदेश के और एक बार उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री रहे। उनका निधन भारतीय राजनीति के लिए एक अपूर्णीय क्षति है।”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath too expressed condolences on Tiwari’s death.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat posted four tweets.
