Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the nation on Eid-ul-Fitr, expressing hope that the festival would deepen the bonds of unity and harmony in the society.

President Ram Nath Kovind also took to Twitter and wished the nation on Eid.

Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramadan/Ramzan. Muslims, on this day, offer special prayers at mosques, idgahs or designated open grounds. To celebrate the festival, people exchange gifts and give alms to the needy.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi also greeted the country. He tweeted, “Eid Mubarak! May the Almighty bless us all with peace, happiness, wisdom and good health.”

On Friday, President Kovind had greeted the nation on Eid, expressing hope that the festival would promote fraternity and understanding in the society.
“On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I offer my greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens, and especially to our Muslim brothers and sisters in India and abroad,” the President had said in his message.
“The culmination of the holy month of Ramzan is a moment of celebration. May it promote fraternity and understanding in our shared society,” he added.
