President Kovind, PM Modi condole deaths in Delhi warehouse fire

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the death of 17 people in a massive fire at a plastic warehouse in west Delhi’s Bawana area.

“Shocked to hear about the fire in a factory in Delhi. Condolences to bereaved families. Prayers with those who have been injured,” Kovind tweeted.

Modi, in his message, said: “Deeply anguished by the fire at a factory in Bawana. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives.”

“May those who are injured recover quickly,” he said.

As many as 17 people, including 10 women, were burnt alive or asphyxiated and 30 others were injured on Saturday in a massive fire at a plastic warehouse in Bawana.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has ordered a probe into the incident.

“Learnt about a serious fire incident in a private factory at Bawana. Several casualties reported. Monitoring the situation. Ordered enquiry,” Jain said in a tweet.
