‘Preparing for 2029 elections’: Congress leader’s dig at Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’

Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam has taken a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, saying it seems the grand old party is preparing for the 2029 elections.

“Congress has some very great and intelligent leaders. On one hand, all political parties are gearing up for the 2024 elections, while on the other hand, the whole Congress party is doing political tourism; they are travelling. Actually, we will figure out how to win the 2024 elections after 2024. It seems we are preparing ourselves for the 2029 elections. Had we been preparing for 2024, this would not have happened,” said Acharya Pramod.

When asked about the on going tussle between the Congress and the TMC in West Bengal over seats-sharing agreement, Krishnam said that no one is ready to give seats to the Congress party under the current circumstances.

“What seat sharing and which seats? Who is giving seats to Congress? Will anyone give seats in such circumstances? Seats are given to one who has something on his side. This is a game of politics and the winner can be the only one who knows to make the right move,” he said.

His remarks critical of the Congress party comes on the day when the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra entered Bihar vie Kishanganj district.

This is Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to Bihar since the 2020 assembly elections. The Yatra enters the state a day after Nitish Kumar ditched the Congress-RJD alliance and joined NDA.

Nitish, who was at the forefront of the anti-BJP INDIA alliance untill yesterday, was reportedly upset over leadership role in the Opposition’s bloc.

His party JD(U) held Congress responsible for INDIA alliance’s decline and accused the party of hijacking the leadership role even when it was decided the Lok Sabha elections will be fought without projecting any face.
