Pranab Mukherjee will soon be teaching the students of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
He will be the second former Indian President after Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to teach the students of IIM-A.
While Kalam taught a course on ‘Globalising and Resurgent India through Innovative Transform’, Mukherjee will teach a new course titled ‘Public Policy for Inclusive Development of India’.
The IIM-A students of PGPM (Post Graduate Programme in Management), FABM (Food and Agri-Business Management) and PGPX (Post Graduate Program in Management for Executives) will attend the course.
The new course will have 22 sessions, and Mukherjee will be taking at least 12 sessions at the JSW School of Public Policy within the IIM-A campus.
“This new course is housed within the JSW School of Public Policy at IIMA and Shri Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India, is to be the faculty for at least 12 out of 22 sessions”, Vijaya Sherry Chand, Chairperson of JSW School of Public Policy and his colleague in teaching the new course at the IIM-A was quoted as saying by Mint.
He said that the students should develop a better understanding of the politics of inclusive development.
“In a complex democratic society such as ours, technically ideal solutions to public problems have to be balanced by the management of conflicts that are inevitable when there are multiple and contradictory pulls,” said Chand.
This should also help in understanding why the idea of inclusion goes beyond narrow economic perspectives on poverty and its alleviation,” he added.
