Post-mortem rules out sexual assault in Kanjhawala case

The tragic Kanjhawala incident has evoked nationwide outrage over the gruesome death of a woman who was dragged under a car for 13 kilometre. Amid speculations about the incident, came post-mortem report of the victim, which has ruled out sexual assault.

Briefing about the incident, Special Commissioner of Police Sagar Preet Hooda said that the post-mortem examination (PME) of the deceased was conducted by a three-member medical board in Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi on January 2.

The report obtained on Tuesday by a police team cited shock and haemorrhage as a provisional cause of the death. This was as the result of ante-mortem injury to the head, spine, left femur and both lower limbs, which was produced by blunt force impact and possible with vehicular accident and dragging.

More importantly, the report indicates that there is no injury suggestive of sexual assault. However, the final report is still awaited.

According to a medical expert, the forensics and DNA sample report will confirm the final narrative about the allegation of sexual assault on the victim.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
