Political leaders, officials laud Dalveer Bhandari’s re-election to ICJ on Twitter

After Justice Dalveer Bhandari was re-elected for a second term to the International Court of Justice at The Hague in Netherlands, political leaders and Indian officials took to Twitter congratulating him, the Ministry of External Affairs team.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to share his congratulatory message saying, that Dalveer’s re-election “is a proud moment for us”.

President Ram Nath Kovind heaped praises on Dalveer Bhandari in a tweet and said, his re-election is “a milestone for India”.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj congratulated Bhandari in a series of tweets saying, “Vande Matram – India wins election to the International Court of Justice. JaiHind” and later in another tweet praised and lauded the efforts made by “Team-MEA” and added that “our Permanent Representative in UN deserves a special mention”.

“India’s rise in ease of doing business, upgrading of ratings by Moody’s followed by election of Justice Dalveer Bhandari at ICJ where hundreds of countries supported India only reinforces the resurgent India under . Bharat Mata Ki Jai! “, said Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in a tweet.

Indian Foreign Service officer serving as India’s permanent representative at the United Nations congratulated the team behind the successful re-appointment of Dulveer Bhandari at ICJ saying, “Judge Dulveer Bhandari’s victory at elections to ICJ – an outcome they have toiled for”.

Science & Technology Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted his congratulatory message regrading Bhandari’s re-election, saying:  “It’s a major diplomatic milestone”.

Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh praised Daveer Bhandari’s re-appointment on Twitter and added ” PM Shri Modi and EAM Smt. Sushma Swaraj made great and sustained efforts to register this emphatic victory”.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar congratulated Dalveer Bhandari and Sushma Swaraj for their “successful diplomatic efforts”.

Justice Bhandari received 183-193 votes in the General Assembly and secured all the 15 votes in the Security Council after separate and simultaneous elections were held at the UN headquarters in New York.

Justice Dalveer Bhandari had been renominated by India in June, 2017 for a new term at the International Court of Justice, The Hague. His term was reaching its end on February 5, 2018.
