In a humanitarian effort the police team of police post Subroto Park under Delhi Cantt. Police Station launched a futile rescue operation of five hours and saved the lives of eight new born puppies trapped in a narrow drain.
According to a senior police official, the whole rescue operation was commendably supported by the teams of Fire Brigade, Public Welfare Department (PWD), Delhi Cantonment Board and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Deputy Commissioner of police (South West Delhi), Manoj C said that a PCR call was received on December 14 at Delhi Cantt., regarding trapping of new born puppies in a drain at about 9.23 am. The call was immediately entrusted to Assistant Sub-Inspector Manoj and Head-Constable Rajkumar, who reached at the spot in the Subroto Park area and found that puppies were trapped in a cemented drain of one feet radius under the service road.
Further, teams of Fire Brigade, PWD, Delhi Cantonment Board and NHAI were called at the spot. Further analyzing the position of the puppies, a team was constituted and equipment for digging around 8 feet road was procured by the police team of Delhi Cantt.
Thereafter, the rescue operation was started. While cutting the road and digging for around eight feet down, the drain was found. Then slowly the cemented drain was also broken by taking utmost care of puppies and after the sincere efforts of 5 hours from all the departments, all the eight puppies were rescued safely.
