Legislators and parliamentarians cutting across party lines will assemble here on Saturday for a two-day conference to exchange ideas and plans on the nation’s development.
Disclosing this at a press conference, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the national legislators’ conference at the Parliament Library complex adjoining the Parliament building on Saturday morning.
Each state would be represented by at least six representatives, including two women, at the conference. More than 175 delegates are expected to take part.
The conference is being held at the initiative of the Speaker and will be attended by lead of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, among others, besides senior ministers in the Union cabinet, chief ministers, members of state assemblies and councils and members of Parliament.
The deliberations would be focused around the central theme of the conference ‘We for Development’ which is in consonance with the Prime Minister’s ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas’ slogan.
Sumitra Mahajan said the issue of appropriate utilisation of resources for development by legislators and parliamentarians would also come up for discussion.
