Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday wished the nation on the occasion of Prophet Mohammad’s birthday Id-E-Milad and hoped that his teachings would “further the spirit of harmony” in the society.
“Greetings on Id-E-Milad. May the teachings of Prophet Mohammad further the spirit of harmony in our society,” Modi tweeted.
The prime minister also shared an audio clip from the 38th edition of his popular radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ aired on November 26 wherein he had wished the people of the country on Id.
“In the coming days ‘Eid e Milad un Nabi ‘ will be celebrated, Prophet Mohammad Sahab was born on this day, I extend my wishes to all countrymen,” Modi had said.
Muslims celebrate this day by remembering episodes from the life of the Prophet Muhammad or by reciting devotional poetry and hymns. Some also make sure to donate to charity on this day.
