Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined scores of prominent names who greeted the nation on the occasion of the Hindu festival of Navratri.
The nine-day long festival, which began on 10 October, is celebrated across the country by Hindus who worship Goddess Durga and her many avatars. The festival culminates on the tenth day in the form of Dusshera when people in north India burn an effigy of Ravana, his brother Kumbhakarna and his son Meghnad signifying the victory of Lord Ram.
“Heartiest greetings on the auspicious occasion of Navratri. May the Goddess of strength, Ma Durga, bring happiness, peace and prosperity in everyone’s lives. Jai Ma Jagdamba,” wrote Modi in a tweet.
