Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that the PM should chant the names of Nirav Modi and Anil Ambani instead of Bharat Mata during his speeches.

Addressing a rally in poll-bound Rajasthan’s Alwar, the 48-year-old Congress chief also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of waiving the loans of some individuals but not doing the same for farmers.

“In every speech Modi says ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, but in reality, he works for Anil Ambani. He should begin his speeches with ‘Anil Ambani ki jai, Mehul Choksi ki jai, Nirav Modi ki jai, Lalit Modi ki jai’,” said Gandhi, adding that for the Congress farmers, youth, women and labourers are ‘Bharat Mata’.

“You waived loans of Rs 3.5 lakh crore of 15 persons but did not waive a single rupee of farmers in Alwar,” alleged Gandhi.

The Gandhi scion said that the Congress will waive off farm loans in 10 days of forming the government in the state.

Gandhi, who has been relentlessly attacking the Modi government over the Rafale deal, also said that the PM never makes a mention of the fighter jet deal with France because “he is afraid that people will shout ‘chowkidar chor hai’”.

“India’s richest industrialists invested and marketed Mr. Modi. They made him Prime Minister and now Mr. Modi is paying their dues,” he said.

He alleged that of the Rs 45,000 crore given by farmers for crop insurance, Anil Ambani got Rs 16,000 crore.

“This is not crop insurance, this is Ambani insurance,” said Gandhi.

Gandhi has been at the forefront of the attack on the government over the deal with France’s Dassault Aviation for the supply of 36 Rafale fighter jets to the Indian Air Force.

He raised questions on why Anil Ambani-run Reliance Defence was given a contract instead of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and alleged that the original Rafale contract was changed with a new one to benefit Anil Ambani to the tune of Rs 30,000 crore.

Gandhi has also claimed that Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Alok Verma was removed because he was going to begin an investigation in the Rafale deal.
