As hill state Himachal Pradesh goes for Assembly Polls on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked electors to vote in record numbers to mark the grand festivity of democracy.
“Today polling is taking place in ‘Devbhoomi’ Himachal Pradesh. I urge all voters to take part in the mahaparva (grand festival) of democracy and vote in record numbers,” Modi said on Twitter.

The polling started on a weak note for 68 Assembly seats in the hill state, where the ruling Congress party is vying for power against BJP.
According to reports, 13.72 per cent voters exercised their right in the first two hours of polling.
A total of 50,25,941 voters are eligible to cast their vote in Himachal. As many as 7,525 polling booths have been set up and 37,605 personnel have been deputed for HP polls.
