Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing three rallies in poll-bound Karnataka today, 3 May, as part of his extensive campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He will begin the day at Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) addressing a public meeting at the Navodaya Vidyalaya Ground at 12.30 pm. Located in north Karnataka, Kalaburagi is the headquarters of the district and is one of the four administrative divisions.

From Kalaburagi, the PM will be heading to Ballari for a public meeting scheduled for 3 pm at Ballari District Stadium. The mining district is at the centre of attention because of G Somasekhara Reddy, who is contesting from Ballari (city) constituency on a BJP ticket.

Reddy is the brother of tainted mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, who was arrested and sent to judicial custody for 42 months in the massive illegal mining scam that rocked the previous BJP government in the state.

The PM will then head to Bengaluru (north), where he will attend another rally at 5.30 pm.

The PM kickstarted a fresh round of BJP campaigning in Karnataka on Tuesday with three mega rallies.

On Tuesday, he threw down the gauntlet at Rahul Gandhi daring the Congress president to speak for 15 minutes on the achievements of the Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka without reading from a piece of paper.

He also praised Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda and slammed Gandhi for “insulting” the former prime minister.

The PM will be participating in 15 rallies over five days since Tuesday.
