The Rajasthan Petrol Dealers Association (RPDA) on Saturday announced to go on a 48-hour strike from 6 am on Sunday to press for its demand to reduce VAT and increase dealers’ commission in the state.

RPDA president Rajendra Singh Bhati, in a video release, declared a ‘No Purchase No Sale’ strike commencing at 6 am on Sunday for the next 48 hours.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised that the BJP government would reduce the prices of petrol, but no action was taken in this regard. Over 33% of dealers of our trade association are on the verge of shutting down. Rajasthan imposes the highest VAT on petrol, necessitating a reduction in prices to align with those in other states. We have been raising our demand for the past year, yet neither the previous government nor the current Bhajan Lal government has addressed our demands except setting up a high-powered committee in the state”, the RPDA president said.

“If the government does not concede to our demand in the next 48 hours, the dealers would take to streets and march to the Chief Minister’s Office to push for their demands,” Bhati said.
