The winter session of Parliament will be held from November 18 to December 13. Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs communicated to the secretariats of both the Houses of Parliament in this regard, according to sources.

A meeting was held on October 10 by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the schedule and plan for Parliament`s winter session, according to news agency ANI.

This Winter Session several bills are likely to be taken up as well as two important ordinances are on the list to be converted into law during the session.

The ordinance to reduce the corporate tax rate for new and domestic manufacturing companies as a measure to arrest a slowdown in the economy and boost growth was issued in September to give effect to amendments in the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Finance Act, 2019. The other ordinance, also released in September, banned the sale, manufacture and storage of e-cigarettes and similar products.

The Winter Session is likely to last for almost a month. Last year, it had begun on December 11 and ended on January 8, the last proper Parliament session ahead of earlier held Lok Sabha elections 2019.
